Meetings Scheduled to Provide Input to the AASB's Invitation to Comment

The Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AASB) has issued an Invitation to Comment, "Auditing and Assurance Standards in Canada — A New Standard-Setting Approach". The Invitation to Comment describes the potential benefits and risks of the proposed new standard-setting approach.

The proposed new approach envisions the convergence of Canadian auditing standards with the International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) in the medium term.

The AASB is inviting written comments on the proposed strategic direction, and is also arranging public roundtable meetings to permit interested individuals to obtain further information and provide feedback. In addition, the AASB will take this opportunity to obtain input from its stakeholders on what projects it should pursue.

The following meeting has been scheduled for Winnipeg:
January 23, 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. or Noon – 2 p.m.
