CA - Chartered Accountants of Manitoba

March 2012

Advisory vote results

Between February 29 and March 14 members of the Manitoba Institute were invited to cast their vote on whether or not they supported the proposed unification of the CA and CMA bodies in Manitoba as outlined in the Manitoba Merger Proposal. 1,402 members cast ballots representing 48% of the entire membership. Of those who voted, approximately 60% voted in support of the merger of CA and CMA Manitoba.

These results will be adjusted once final paper ballots are received as any paper ballots postmarked before midnight on March 14th will be included in the final count.

ICAM Council will be considering the results of this vote at its meeting on March 22nd, at which time it will determine next steps in the unification process. Members are reminded that the vote is an advisory vote and that the ultimate decision on whether or not the accounting bodies will merge is a decision that will be made by the Manitoba Government after taking all factors into account including the results of the advisory vote.
